Freedom is a byproduct of going through a lot of fear. That's it. This episode rounds out the conversation with Sam that started with, "Hope is a mistake," and moved to how we knew we found our respective homes.

"Everything is right the way it is right now," is a quote by Jared, who texted that to me one night.

This is the episode where Sam and I round out our conversation and we do revisit the hope is a mistake aspect of our conversation. And we talk about how fear is actually necessary. In order to get to freedom. The segue is at the end and two car lighters and why people over 40 are all traumatized. By them. Enjoy. I had thought of another. Another quote, that kind of played into this and now it's. I've gone back to the ether. Oh, I remember. Cause it's about fear. It's Uh, Frank Herbert quote, Frank Herbert is the author who wrote dune the dune series. Okay. It is from. The very opening of the book. Uh, when. Paula tradies. His mother takes him to the Beni desert, which to be tested. against his father's wishes. the test is to put your hand inside this box that produces. The measurable pain in your body. And to not react. if he reacts this woman will kill him. With an instant toxin. On a needle that she's holding to his throat. And he gets himself through this. situation. With a mantra. And that is. Fear is the mind killer. I will face my fear and let it wash over me. And when it has passed. Nothing will remain only me. I remember reading that as a kid and thinking. Like. Just knowing, just like reading that and being like, wow, that is. If I took nothing else. From this book, but this one thing. I will be better equipped. And. I have not lived my life without fear, you know? Who has. The very old people. I have nothing to fucking lose. Yeah. Yeah, they haven't. No. You get to a point. You know, If you've ever met, like. That old doc. You know that 92 year old lady, who's still getting around. She doesn't drive because, you know, they took her license, but. She is. Absolutely ferocious. Absolutely fearless. There's not a thing in this world that would. Shake her from her foundation because she does not have fear anymore. You cannot cause that to occur in her. And it's like, Just the most. Powerful thing to look at. especially in a world where everything is designed to make you afraid. Everything is designed to make you fear yourself, fear the world. Fear. Anything. So. Of course, we look at those people and say, Holy hell. How did you do it? we think it's impossible. At some miracle. But, you know, It just took a lot of being afraid. And finally deciding. I'm going to let this go. And then really letting it go. Speaking of mountain tops. You know, Yeah. That's the mountain top you can't be taken from. That's the one that you can't. Be knocked off of. You're just there, you with your pennant and flag or whatever, just there, your mountain top now. Yeah. No one and nothing can. Take that from you. everything else can be taken from you. Not that. You know what I mean? Like you can't because you got to the place, how you started this. With that quote, where you got to the place where you said you go through and when this passes or when this is done or when I'm through it, it's just me only I remain. Right. So if. You get to that place where you realize that if, and this is the interesting thing you realize, it's just me. But you realize me is. Actually everything I don't exist. There is no I to exist. Yes. Yeah. like. The constant permutation. Of. Reality. We're trying to. Understand itself. we are that. That's what life is. Reality trying to understand itself. We are the idea of the universe attempting to experience itself. And through us. through life, through. That chaos. that's the truth. That's that's it. It's all there. I don't even know what it is. And I just know that it's there. Just beyond the veil of fear. That's it. That's it. Hope is a mistake. it's a product of fear. And fear. Interestingly. Once you're through it. It's like you have to go through the fear to get to freedom. Right. So you have to experience fear in order to. Experience freedom. You also have to experience hope. To know that it's a mistake. Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah. Pretty much. We all learned the hard way. Quote unquote, the hard way. The Hardy. The Tom Hardy way. It's touching the hot thing, right. You can be told. All you want when you're a kid that that's hot, don't touch it. It won't burn you. You have no idea what that means until you touch it and it's hot and it burns you. Oh yeah. That's how you, what's the glowing name. Yeah. Like it's pretty like, or the, I just think of how many, at least of our generation, certainly not the younger generations, but. Our generation older. How many of us have this? Uh, The experience of doing that with the car cigarette lighter. Because of the, like the TA. The tactile. Pleasure of pushing this thing in, and then when it's ready, whatever that means, it goes. And pops out and then you're like, Just burn yourself. Start screaming. Yeah. Drop the lighter on the car seat. Burn the car seat that used to happen, kids. Yeah. All the time. I am surprised there aren't more people that I meet that are my age that are missing a fingerprint. Um, yup. That was a good segue. on the next episode, car lighters and how they affected us in our youth. This has been another episode of hope is a mistake with Sam. I actually think I'm going to capitalize on that. So thank you, Sam. Thank you for being here for listening, for tuning into yourself and your soul and your home. This is actually been another episode of 100 ways with Laura, Christine. It doesn't matter. Nothing matters. Enjoy your day. All right. Until next time we are sending. All the love and then some more. Reciprocate, if you want. At buy me a coffee.com/ 1 0 0 waste. Oh, I'll talk to you tomorrow.
